What to wear to a holiday party

If you ever find yourself Googling “what to wear to _” this time of year, you’re not alone. From Friendsgiving to work parties to cocktail celebrations and New Year’s Eve, it feels like there is always somewhere we need to be in November and December.

I already shared what I’m wearing for Thanksgiving, and I wanted to share another outfit idea for all of those parties where you want to be dressy enough, but not too much. Like with all of my favorite styles, this is super easy to throw-and-go without a lot of fuss or guesswork on how to style it.

This lace dress is a complete classic party look for many reasons. It’s part little black dress mixed with a little something extra with the lace and bell sleeves. For those who don’t like to expose their arms, you have coverage but still show a little skin. The length is just below the knee, so not to worry if you’re concerned about baring a little too much leg at the company holiday party.

Dress it up or down:

  • Dress it down: add opaque tights and flats and layer with a moto jacket or even a blazer
  • Dress it up: Add a statement necklace, strappy heels, jeweled clutch, and a red lip

A note about hosiery: My mom extolled the virtues of Catherines hosiery to me over 20 years ago, and it still rings true. Their hosiery is the most comfortable of any I’ve tried, and it lasts a long time. The size range is unmatched, and it’s why I have half of a dresser drawer filled with them. I personally love the Daysheer, which is what I have on here. They are super easy to get on, are high waisted, but don’t have a control top. If I want control, I prefer to do that with additional shapewear, not with hosiery. These are the taupe color, and I’m wearing a size E, though I should have gotten a D as these are a bit loose for my liking. Still, they didn’t rip and were very comfortable all day.

Are you excited about holiday parties or would you rather be at home in your jammies? No judgment from me, either way!
