Cool Things For Your Backyard For An Awesome Summer
Some of my best childhood memories are fun summer days in my backyard with my family. Jumping on the trampoline, eating a meal fresh off the grill, or just running around without a care in the world. As an adult, my favorite times are still centered around creating memories with my loved ones. The backyard is the perfect space for all the summer fun and these cool things for your backyard will help you create your own personal summer oasis!
I’m a mom of two young kids and the moment the temperatures are warm enough to spend our time outdoors that’s exactly where I want to be! There’s just something so nostalgic and special about hanging out in your backyard with your family and friends.
We recently hosted our annual “School’s Out/Welcome Summer” party for our kids’ preschool friends and our neighbors. I love doing it for a number of reasons but one of the more selfish reasons is that hosting a party the first week of summer break incentivizes me to get all the outdoor yardwork done early so that we can enjoy a nice backyard setup all summer long.
While our party was geared more to the 2-4 year old crowd, today’s post is less about outdoor kid activities and more about the core items for your backyard to create a great environment for all the fun.
Without further ado, here are my top cool things for your backyard to be the backdrop of a great summer!
Cool Things For Your Backyard For An Awesome Summer
Ozark Trail Tumblers (40 and 18 ounce options)
Of course, no matter what fun activity we’re doing outside this summer it’s important to stay well-hydrated. These Ozark Trail Tumblers are available in 40 ounce and 18 ounce options and a variety of colors the whole family will love.
I love the price of these and they work great too!
While technically not a “backyard” item, these tumblers join our crew on every backyard adventure.

Solo Stove
Nothing says summer time like a campfire and maybe some roasted hot dogs and s’mores. These Solo Stoves are ALL the rage for a reason. They’re portable, durable, and best of all – smokeless!

Solo Stove Mesa 5″ Tabletop Fire Pit
If you’re looking for something a little smaller, this Solo Stove Mesa 5″ Tabletop Fire Pit is perfect for creating ambiance without commiting to the larger Solo Stove options.

Better Homes and Gardens Egg Chair
I am a HUGE fan of the Better Homes and Gardens Patio Furniture Line and have had my eye on this Egg Chair to add to my space. Can’t you just envision yourself curling up with a cozy book on a Summer night here?

A Good Book #BookTok
Speaking of books, if you’re like me you just can’t escape all the good reads on #Booktok. There’s nowhere I’d rather read a book and sip a lemonade than the backyard. Grab a read you’ve been looking forward to and cozy up outside!

RTIC Cooler – The Literal Cool Things For Your Backyard
These RTIC Ultra-Light Wheeled Hard-Sided Coolers are heavy duty and look so nice! They can hold 78 cans so you can keep your whole family and all your friends hydrated. It can stay cool for up to five days, which is incredible! Two of my favorite features are the built in stainless steel bottle opener and the easy hands-free draining.

Blackstone Pizza Oven – Cool Things For Your Backyard That Are Actually Hot
My whole extended family is OBSESSED with Blackstone grills, so when I saw this Blackstone Pizza Oven I was immediately intrigued.so we’re always on the hunt for the best pies around.
This Blackstone Pizza Oven has RAVE reviews and can make better than restaurant quality pizzas in a matter of minutes.
I love that the pizza oven can be used on a solid tabletop surface but also comes with its own portable stand.
If you’re a pizza lover like my crew is, this is SUCH a fun backyard idea!

Portable Projector
Don’t tell my husband, but this VANKYO Portable Projector along with an outdoor portable screen are going to be his Father’s Day gift. We’ve slowly but surely been adding fun features to our backyard and I know he’s going to love this!
My plan for the big day is to get him out of the house and set it all up with his favorite movie, snacks, drinks, and comfy chairs.
I love that we’ll be able to bring out the baby monitors after the kids go to bed and have special date nights at home all Summer long.
I have a feeling there will be MANY kid movie nights outside too, and I can’t wait to invite over our neighbors and friends!

I did a little test run with the projector and screen as I just couldn’t wait, and it was SO easy! It would definitely be a little faster to put it together with two people, but I was able to manage it solo! Here’s how it looks!

String Lights
Nothing quite sets the tone of an outdoor space like special lighting. String lights hung around the patio always make me feel like I’m living in a real life chick flick, and I LOVE it.

Better Homes and Gardens Patio Furniture
It’s heavy duty, holding up to 900 lbs. It’s versatile, allowing you to set it up in a sectional style or in a dining table style. It can seat up to eight people between the couches and the bench and is ALWAYS the first group of seating to fill up when we host friends.
I have had this set for several years now and it looks as good as new due to the great quality and the included furniture covers protecting it from the elements when not in use.
