Styling for Spring with Catherines

Spring can’t get here fast enough for me after the rainiest, most gray winter I can remember. I’m starting to pull the super heavy sweaters and coats to the side of my closet while I look to fill in the wardrobe with some slightly warmer weather looks.

Maxi dresses and denim jackets are always in my closet year-round since they’re so versatile. These are both from Catherines, which never fails with comfortable styles that can be mixed and matched. I also appreciate the ease of care of the majoirty of Catherines pieces – so many that are wash-and-wear.

This outfit is a Kentucky girl’s dream: The sleeveless maxi dress is in my favorite hue of Kentucky blue , and the color of this jacket is called “bourbon.” As if I need any other signs to wear this look!

This is exactly the type of look that I’d wear all through patio season. We may be a little delayed as when the first happy hour on a restaurant patio happens this year, but my ‘fit is ready for when social distancing is a thing of the past!

In the meantime, I’ll wear it around the house, because as I shared before, getting dressed every day is a priority to keeping my spirits up! The dress is extremely comfortable and has pockets. If the sun decides to join us, I’ll take it outside on my own patio to enjoy it with some wine.

Sizing: For both the dress and the jacket, I’m wearing the Catherines 3X. They are true to size, and the jacket is a little roomy so you can wear it with bulkier layers as well. These items are available in 0X-5X, and as always, I appreciate the extended sizing options that Catherines provides. There are very few stores that have this type of range.

Some other styling ideas for a maxi dress and denim jacket:

• Sleeveless maxi dress worn on its own with cute sandals and accessories in warmer temps
• Maxi dress topped with a faux leather moto jacket (I’d opt for cognac, brown, or black) and booties for a cooler weather look.
• Maxi dress topped with a cardigan sweater closed and belted at the high waist with a thin belt.

• Denim jacket can be worn over a turtleneck dress and boots
• Jacket over high waisted black wide-legged trousers and a slim cut tee
